Susan Scites - the Lady Penelope-The first thing that young Susan Danner wanted when she grew up was to become a seamstress and clothing designer. The LAST thing she wanted to do was get shoved into a box with 11 blades. Or in a basket with 5 swords. Or have a stone broken on her chest. Or have a flaming torch shoved in her mouth. But, hey! If you're going to live in this world, you may as well get as much excitement out of it as you can! At least that is what her husband of (at the time) 14 years and her (at the time) 10-year-old son said to convince her to leave her home-based alterations business in Hilliard, Ohio a few weekends out of the year and "get in the box...It won't hurt!"
12 years and a lifetime later, Susan (aka Mom) doesn't sew for many people anymore. Instead, she heads up not only the costuming design and development part of Faire Wynds, but is the Lady Sampson, Female Amazon, Mentalist, Assistant, and 'Box Girl' as well! Her background is in wedding fashion and deign, attending both The Ohio State University and Columbus College of Art and Design.
She still has the husband (and a lot of money was lost on THAT wager) and the son is taller than she is by about a foot, but no business can run without the perfect person to keep things running, and so she does! As soon as she gets out of the box!

The "Cremation" or "Burned Alive".
Performed for All Hallows at North Augusta, South Carolina in 2009. We performed it in 2009 because it took me 6 years to convince Penelope (Susan) that it was O.K., what could POSSIBLY go wrong!
Oh, and as I had to explain to one inquiring mind after it was over, "...well, sometimes not everybody gets out in time!"
